Fun Fair and Recycle ProjectConnecting Classrooms programme.

This project was held on 28 February 2011 at Central Model School, Khanewal, Pakistan.

The project aimed to illustrate ways if reusing products and transforming them into new and different useful items instead of letting them go to waste in a landfill. By recycling, we reduce our waste, reduce the amount of energy we use, and can even prevent harmful chemicals from contaminating our soil and/or water.

The children were very excited about the recycling exhibition. They created a new trend to utilise old things which our teachers introduced. We hung shopping bags on the walls and children collected discarded materials and paper to recycle. Also a lot of materials were reused and made into new things again and that saved energy and resources.

In the Fun Fair and Recycle Exhibition, the British Council’s staff and from the Birmingham cluster school participated as our honorable guests and saw the activities which our students presented and they liked them very much. The students also presented gifts to our partner schools. We also invited their parents to join these activities and after the students finished recycling, they purchased our products. Many of the products sold out. The money from sale will be donated to school library and welfare projects.
